Song Joong-ki as Sunwoo Hae, His Unrequited Love in My Youth Episode 1

Posted on September 8, 2025September 8, 2025 by RB

“My Youth” is a 2025 South Korean romantic-drama series starring Song Joong‑ki as Sunwoo Hae and Chun Woo‑hee as Sung Je‑yeon. The drama explores the reunion of two former childhood acquaintances and the rekindling of past emotions, set against the backdrop of their very different adult lives

Main Cast & Characters

Song Joong-ki as Sunwoo Hae: A former child actor who once shone brightly in the entertainment industry. After facing exploitation and burnout, he retreats into a peaceful life as a florist and novelist. His quiet existence is disrupted when his first love, Sung Je-yeon, reappears, forcing him to confront his past and unresolved feelings.

Chun Woo-hee as Sung Je-yeon: Once a model student from a wealthy family, Je-yeon’s life took a turn when her family’s fortune crumbled. Now a team leader at Feel Entertainment, she is driven by ambition and success. Her encounter with Sunwoo Hae reignites old emotions and challenges her to reconcile her past with her present.

Lee Ju-myung as Mo Tae-rin: A former child star known for her honesty and quirky charm. Now a leading actress, she grapples with the pressures of fame and the complexities of adult relationships. Her friendship with Sung Je-yeon adds depth to the narrative, highlighting themes of personal growth and the challenges of transitioning from childhood stardom to adulthood.

Seo Ji-hoon as Kim Seok-ju: A tax accountant and Mo Tae-rin’s first love. His story becomes intricately entangled with Mo Tae-rin’s, adding layers of complexity to the romantic dynamics within the series.

Plot Recap: The episode opens with Sunwoo Hae, a former child actor, now living a calm life as a florist and novelist under a pen name. Sung Je‑yeon, on the other hand, is a driven team leader at an entertainment agency, managing her clients’ careers.

Je‑yeon visits Hae’s flower shop to persuade him to return to the entertainment world. Initially, Hae resists, but a small interaction involving a cactus and a moment of surprise hints at the deeper connection between them. Later, Je‑yeon discovers that Hae is also a published author. She arranges a meeting between him and a producer in hopes of reintroducing him to the public.

Through a mix-up, Hae initially believes the meeting involves the producer’s daughter, but the truth emerges, leaving him slightly hurt yet intrigued. A small gesture—a broken wish bracelet—symbolizes the emotional thread connecting them. The episode ends with Hae visiting Je‑yeon at her workplace, leading to a heartfelt hug and the hint of a growing bond.

Reception & Audience Buzz

The premiere has been praised for its warm, nostalgic storytelling, natural dialogue, and tender character interactions. Early viewers appreciated the chemistry between the lead actors and the gentle pacing of the episode. Social media buzz highlights fans’ excitement for the slow-burning romance and the nostalgic aesthetic of the series.

The first episode recorded promising viewership for a JTBC romance premiere, indicating solid interest and anticipation for future episodes.
