Lee Jae-wook is returning to the small screen with his new Korean drama Last Summer, set to premiere on KBS2 on November 1, 2025. The series will air on weekends at 9:20 p.m. and is already gaining attention for its nostalgic premise and emotional storytelling.
The drama reunites Lee Jae-wook with viewers in a unique challenge, as he takes on dual roles as twin brothers Baek Do-ha and Baek Do-yeong, who were separated after their parents’ divorce. Do-ha grows up in the United States with his mother but returns to Korea every summer for just 21 days to reconnect with his brother and father. These brief summers form the backdrop of his childhood memories with Song Ha-kyung, the girl who lived next door.
Choi Sung-eun stars as Song Ha-kyung, a public official and architect whose life has been closely tied to the brothers since childhood. Her relationship with Do-ha is filled with tender memories but also complicated by an incident that happened two years ago, which the story will slowly unravel. The drama is described as a “remodeling romance,” exploring how past love, childhood bonds, and hidden emotions resurface in adulthood.
The show promises a mix of nostalgia and tension, with the “peanut house” where the brothers stayed becoming a symbolic place of both warmth and unresolved conflict. Architecture plays a central theme, not just in the characters’ professions but also as a metaphor for rebuilding relationships and piecing together broken memories.
What makes Last Summer especially exciting is Lee Jae-wook’s portrayal of both twins, offering fans a chance to see his versatility as he embodies two different personalities. Choi Sung-eun’s grounded presence is expected to balance the story, while the chemistry between the leads will be at the heart of the drama.
With its blend of bittersweet romance, childhood nostalgia, and the question of whether first love can truly withstand time and distance, Last Summer is set to be one of the most anticipated dramas of late 2025.
