Perfect Crown Episode 1 Review: A Powerful Start to IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s Royal Romance

The new Korean drama Perfect Crown begins with a very interesting first episode that mixes royal tradition, modern business power, and the start of an unexpected romance. Episode 1 focuses on introducing the main characters and the world they live in. The drama stars IU and Byeon Woo-seok, and their characters come from two completely different worlds—one from the powerful corporate world and the other from a royal family.
The first episode slowly builds the story and sets up a relationship that could change both their lives.
Cast and Characters
Seong Hui-ju — IU: A confident and successful CEO who refuses to let her difficult past define her future.
Grand Prince Yi-an — Byeon Woo-seok: A royal prince who feels trapped by palace rules but still tries to protect the royal family.
Episode 1 introduces Seong Hui-ju, a strong and ambitious businesswoman. She is the CEO of a beauty company and comes from a wealthy family, but she is not treated equally because she is an illegitimate daughter. Because of this, she works even harder to prove her value in the business world.
Hui-ju is smart, confident, and not afraid to challenge people who underestimate her. However, her family continues to pressure her to marry someone from a powerful family.
On the other side of the story is Grand Prince Yi-an, a member of the royal family. Even though he lives in luxury, Yi-an feels trapped by royal duties and public expectations. He often struggles with the responsibilities that come with being part of the monarchy.
The two characters meet during an important royal event celebrating the young king’s birthday. Their meeting reminds them that they once attended the same elite school in the past.
